Fire Department Recognition Ceremony

The Longview Fire Department will host a Department Recognition Ceremony at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, at the LFD Training Facility, located at 307 American Legion Blvd. Awards will be presented to firefighters that have achieved 20, 15, 10, and 5 years of service. The ceremony will also include acknowledgement of department promotions and fire prevention recognitions. The ceremony is open to the public.

In addition, the program will include a ceremonial swearing-in of Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary and Fire Chief J.P. Steelman. After serving as interim since May, Johnny Zackary has been selected as the Fire Marshal for the Longview Fire Department effective Monday, November 1. Chief Steelman was appointed as Fire Chief on October 14, and had served as Interim Fire Chief since February 2010.
