Left Turns Limited at Fourth and Delwood
(Longview, TX) The City of Longview has placed new traffic signage at the intersection of Fourth Street and Delwood Drive to prevent left turns between 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. each day. During those hours of the day, eastbound traffic on Delwood Drive may not turn left onto Fourth Street, and northbound traffic may not turn left onto Delwood Drive.
The City of Longview Public Works Department made the change after reviewing four years of data regarding crashes at the intersection, which showed most crashes were related to traffic turning left. Also, the majority of crashes occurred during the 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. timeframe
In accordance with the 2011 Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the signage includes a warning sign with the text “NEW” to be used temporarily for 60 days to draw attention to the new regulatory signs.
Longview Police will issue tickets for violations at the intersection.
