Midnight Madness at the Softball Fields at Lear
(Longview, TX) The Sixth Annual “Midnight Madness” Fast Pitch Softball Tournament will be held at “The Softball Fields at Lear Park” in Longview this weekend. The games will start Friday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. with Pool Games being played on all eight Lear Softball Fields. After the Friday night games end around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, the teams will rest during the day Saturday, June 9, and return to start play at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening. The Finals are slated to begin after midnight Saturday.
Also scheduled are fun games for the teams on Friday night which will include around the horn, throwing, a dunking booth, and the popular “Pajama Relay Races”. This will be the sixth year for the tournament and the forty-one teams entered this year representing three states is a record high for the event. The tournament is hosted by the Sneaky Cleats, Diamond Dreams and sponsored by the Longview Parks Sports Tourism. There will be a Coaches/Umpire Meeting at 6:00 p.m., Friday at Fields 1-4. The Tournament is a USSSA sanctioned tournament, and all participating teams will be qualified to play in the 2012 USSSA State North Tournament to be held at the Softball Fields at Lear Park, June 29-July 1 in Longview.
Also, in Longview this weekend is “The Mike Henry T-Ball and Coach Pitch Tournament” with 18 teams competing at the Spring Hill Park Baseball Complex. The Mike Henry Tournament is hosted by the Spring Hill Dixie Youth Association.
