General Election for Longview Mayor and City Council Districts 1 and 2
(Longview, TX) The City of Longview Election will be 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012. Voters from District 1 and 2 will elect City Council Members, and voters from all districts will elect a Mayor.
Mayor and City Council:
Candidates for Mayor include Tammy Barnes and Jay Dean. Candidates for City Council District 1 include David Sparks, John Sims, and Samantha Clark. The unopposed candidate declared elected for City Council District 2 is Gary Smith.
Election Day Voting:
Voting on Election Day will take place 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12 at the following locations:
District 1: Pine Tree Community Center, 1701 Pine Tree Rd.
District 2: Stamper Park Resource Center, 502 S. Center St.
District 3: Broughton Recreation Center, 801 M.L. King Blvd.
District 4: Forest Park Magnet School, 1644 N. Eastman Rd.
District 5: Spring Hill School Williamson Auditorium, 3101 Spring Hill Rd.
District 6: City Hall Lobby, 300 W. Cotton St.
Election Results:
Following the closing of the polls, votes will be tabulated by Gregg County and then unofficial election results will be presented by City Secretary Shelly Ballenger. Presentation will take place in the first floor lobby of the Gregg County Courthouse. Media may gain access to the courthouse through the sheriff’s entrance on Whaley St.
Unofficial election results will also be posted on Saturday evening on the City of Longview Channel 5 and on the City website LongviewTexas.gov within the “City Government” section. Election Results
Election results will become official upon canvassing at a Special Called City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012.
