Oil and Gas Permits

The Oil and Gas Inspector is charged with enforcing the City's Oil and Gas Ordinance, Chapter 61 of the City Code. The Inspector verifies new oil and gas exploratory operations are conducted in conformance with Chapter 61 and other applicable state and federal laws. 

Permits are issued for new operations and the Inspector verifies public notices are issued in conformance with federal law. The Inspector collects permit fees, security deposits, and certificates of insurance, and monitors the start­-up, drilling activity, and closing of wells for
compliance with Chapter 61.

Oil and gas activities must be conducted in a clean, sanitary manner, with as little disruption to the public as possible. There are noise level restrictions, fences, and other concessions oil and gas operators must make to comply with City Code.
