The Longview Public Library offers patrons access to a variety of online resources and databases. Simply click the links below to experience these amazing services! Many sites require your Longview Public Library Card number for access to the service. If you don't yet have a card, please visit the Library to get your first one for free! Mocavo: Mocavo is a wonderful search engine dedicated to all things genealogy. Use Mocavo to help you find the free information that's hiding across the internet. 



America's Historical Newspapers: Family of historical collections from NewsBank containing books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers and government documents printed in America over 3 centuries. Explore America's past and present with searchable American newspapers dating back from the Early Colonial Era to the present. 


America's News: America's NewsSearch current and archived coverage of issues, events, people, government, sports, and more with the largest collection of full-text U.S. newspapers. Includes staff-written articles, obituaries, editorials, announcements, real estate, and other sections.


EBSCO Newspaper Source: EBSCO provides access to a wide variety of full-text newspaper and magazine articles suitable for students of all ages. Includes Spanish language magazines and newspapers.

NewsBank: Longview News-Journal: NewsBank: Longview News-Journal is a direct link to search the local newspaper, Longview News-Journal, through the NewsBank database. Use this shortcut to search all of the articles, obituaries, announcements and more as far back as April 27, 2002.

Artemis Literary Sources: Artemis Literary Sources opens the door to an entire world of literary databases from Gale / Cengage.

Contemporary Authors: Contemporary Authors by Gale is a wonderful database full of resources for that next paper for your English class! Includes biographies of the authors' lives and works.

Driving-Tests: Driving-Tests is a wonderful internet-based database that offers all kinds of driving practice tests for cars and motorcycles. Our link is specific to Texas DMV rules and regulations and even includes fines, limits, signs and more. Driver's handbooks are also available in this database.

Once you click the link, simply start a new profile from the sign-up page. Afterwards, it will prompt you to sign in with your library/online access card number and password. Then you'll browse the languages and get started!

MasterFile for Children: MasterFile for Children is a specialty database designed for middle and high school students from EBSCO Databases.

School Atlas of Texas: This 48-page color atlas of Texas was the first of its kind and was aimed at filling an important educational need for the state's schoolchildren.

Texas Crime Atlas: The Texas Crime Atlas is organized into 3 chapters that feature 144 color crime maps and all original cartography while highlighting vital aspects of crime in Texas. Includes a Texas Crime Timeline. Note: Texas Atlas Project requires a fee of $19.95 to access this resource.

Texas Education Atlas: The Texas Education Atlas promotes evidence-based decision making through interactive visualizations, a user-friendly interface for non-technical users, and an easily disseminated software system that can enable policy makers, researchers, students, and the general public the ability to quickly explore a myriad of data about education in Texas from kindergarten to college.  

Texas Health Atlas

Texas Health Atlas: The Texas Health Atlas holds 8 chapters that feature 350 color maps and almost all original cartography while highlighting vital aspects of the health and well-being of Texans. It compares health outcomes for Whites, Hispanics, and African Americans. Includes a Texas Medical Timeline that tracks notable medical advancements. Note: Texas Atlas Project requires a fee of $35.00 to access this resource. 

Texas Water Atlas

Texas Water Atlas: The Texas Water Atlas is a groundbreaking endeavor that contains 7 chapters that feature 172 color maps and graphics highlighting the state's climate, water resources and hazards, and projections for future water needs. Note: Texas Atlas Project requires a fee of $24.95 to access this resource. 

Universal Class: Universal Class is an online database of free classes for personal enrichment and/or continuing education. With more than 500 courses to choose from, there's something for everyone - from pie baking and spirituality to domestic violence prevention and writing poetry. Universal Class also features teaching resources and courses that can be used to meet job requirements. Simply by creating a free account, you can be enrolled in up to 5 courses at once!

The Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software, as well as archived web pages in its collections. This is a free resource from Internet Archive.
