Longview is one of many communities designated as accredited Main Street communities in Texas. As part of the Texas Main Street program, a division of the Texas Historical Commission, designated Main Street communities seek to preserve, promote and revitalize their historic downtown districts through a Four Point approach involving organization, economic development, thoughtful design and promotion.
This Four Point model is a tool of the national Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Together, Longview Main Street, Texas main Street and the National Main Street Center work to maintain Downtown Longview’s Historical integrity and create a vibrant business community.
One Hundred Acres of Heritage, Inc. is a volunteer driven organization which partners with the City of Longview to promote and revitalize Downtown Area. Named for the original 100 acres on which Longview was founded, OHAOH is committed to preserving the authenticity of Longview’s downtown district as well as create a vibrant and sustainable community for the future.
Since 2008, thousands of volunteer hours have been dedicated to promoting downtown Longview through high quality events, design and business assistance as well as other special projects.
We invite you to join us in promoting and preserving Downtown Longview’s special pace as the heart of our city. New volunteers of all ages are always welcome.
