Municipal Energy Usage

Texas Government Code 2265.001(b) requires cities to publish the following information annually on their website:

  • “metered amount of electricity, water or natural gas consumed”; and
  • the “aggregate costs for those utility services”.

This report is consistent with the statutory direction to governmental entities to report the aggregate (combined) costs for electric, water and natural gas services.

The total cost of natural gas, electricity and water purchased by the City of Longview in the calendar year 2022 is $3,719,073.

Natural Gas
The City of Longview purchases natural gas from Atmos Energy and Centerpoint.  In Calendar Year 2022, the City facilities consumed a total of 163,116 cubic feet (CCF) of natural gas.

Electricity
The City of Longview purchases electricity from SWEPCO and Upshur Rural Electric.  In fiscal year 2022, the City facilities consumed a total of 35,794,858 kilowatt hours.

Water
In fiscal year 2022, the City facilities consumed a total of 128,866,900 gallons of water.
