East Loop 281 Corridor Study Public Meeting
Tuesday, September 27, 2022
The City of Longview and the Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization will host a Public Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, to update residents on an ongoing study of the East Loop 281 Corridor from Tryon Road to Page Road/Delia Drive.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the East Texas Builders Association and Event Center at 2023 Alpine Road. Planners with Fort Worth-based Freese and Nichols will present their recommendations for the corridor and engage the public for additional feedback.
“We received tremendous public input during the first phase of this study, and we are excited to show the community what their feedback helped create,” Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization Director Bryan McBride said.
Public input for the plan came from a previous public meeting as well as an online survey.
The East Loop Corridor is a rapidly developing area in Longview with considerable commercial growth in the last five years. Major developments include Everett Rehabilitation Hospital at Tryon Road and E. Loop 281, housing 36 patients and employing 80 people; a new Hallsville elementary school campus with a 925 enrollment capacity at Page Road and East Loop 281; and a 45-unit Senior Housing development at Delia Drive and Loop 281. Several other large acreage sites are for sale along the corridor.
