Parks Master Plan Community Workshop
Monday, March 27, 2023
What are your hopes and visions for the Longview Parks and Recreation department for the next 5 to 10 years?
The City will host a Community Workshop at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 27, at the Broughton Recreation Center, 801 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, and invites residents to come and hear about ongoing updates to the Parks Master Plan and provide their input.
The City of Longview is in the process of updating the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan, which was a chapter in the Longview Comprehensive Plan adopted in March 2015. This updated plan will involve a review of current conditions, a forecast for future needs, and a public engagement process to guide the Parks and Recreation Department.
The plan serves as a long-range vision for the future development and programming of the park system and its resources. The plan helps residents and staff understand the history and current barriers to park access while setting a vision to remove these inequities and ensure parks and open spaces are providing the most benefit to communities.
In addition to the public workshop, residents can provide feedback online at LongviewTexas.gov/ParksMasterPlan. A survey will also be available in April.
