[ARCHIVED] Residents Discuss Trust between Community and Longview Police Department

May 28 World Cafe

(Longview, TX) Longview Partners in Prevention’s Unity and Diversity Committee will host “World Café: Trust Between the Community & LPD” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Longview Exhibit Building, 1123 Jaycee Dr. The World Café is a small group conversational process used across the nation as a way to dialogue about questions of potentially sensitive nature that are important to the community. It is used as a way for people to safely convey their ideas, connect with diverse perspectives, and share discoveries made through the process. This World Café will focus on open, honest and civil dialogue concerning relations between the community and local law enforcement.

Keeta King, Liaison to the Unity and Diversity Committee, said, “We see a great deal of discord and mistrust between communities and police departments nationwide. As a prevention coalition, our goal is tobring the community and local police together to see where we stand within our own city regarding this topic in hopes of remaining preventative versus reactive.”

Conversations for the evening will focus on the follow:
• Residents trust of the Longview Police Department
• Law enforcement & city leaders’ roles in building community relations
• LPD’s ability to work with the community
• Uniting to build relations between community and our local police department.

The event is free, but an RSVP is requested by calling 903-237-1255.
