The Longview Police Department will offer a FREE Women’s Safety Course, starting Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Longview Police Department. The class will meet nightly from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with the Tuesday and Thursday evening classes being held in the Activity Rooms at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex on Tuesday, September 25th and Thursday, September 27, 2018. The course will include women’s safety at home, shopping, workplace violence and women, handgun safety class, a firearms simulator shooting course, and a hands-on range day. The hands-on shooting activities will be held on the morning of Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Longview Police Department’s Firing Range. This program is open to women ages 18 years and older. Applicants MUST pre-register and pass a criminal background check. Completed registration forms are due by 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2018. Approved applicants will receive additional information by mail and/or email. Early registration is encouraged as the class is limited to 40 participants. Handguns may be provided to students who do not have one. Students must provide their own ammunition.
