[ARCHIVED] Residential Structure Fires

Fire News

On September 1, 2018 at approximately 1:56 p.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 109 Melba Street. When fire units arrived they found fire in the kitchen. The resident was pre-heating a pan of cooking oil and it caught fire. The fire damage was contained to the kitchen. There were no reported injuries and the occupant was not displaced. A working smoke detector was found to be functioning by firefighters.

While units were still on scene of that fire, another structure fire was reported at 2108 Tryon Road #4. When LFD units arrived they found smoke coming from a second floor apartment. The fire was contained to the bathroom area where it is believed to have started from an exhaust fan. Although no one was home at the time of the fire, a working smoke detector was found in the apartment.
