The City of Longview and Keep Longview Beautiful will host Longview Green and Clean at 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Lear Park softball parking lot, 100 H.G. Mosley Pkwy. Mike Wigington, City of Longview Recycling Coordinator, says, “The ‘Green’ part is the recycling and the ‘Clean’ part is the community wide clean up.” The event, held in conjunction with America Recycles Day, encourages residents to recycle unwanted items and volunteer to help clean the community. An 11 a.m. lunch will be served while supplies last for those that pick up litter.
Longview Green and Clean will offer recycling for electronics, including TVs. Recycling will also be available for glass, motor oil & filters, plastic bags, batteries, ink cartridges, paper, cardboard, plastic and metal cans. Tire Recycling will also be available but will require a current water bill and drivers' license for proof of Longview residence. A huge drive thru recycling station will also be available during the event. Paper shredding services will also be provided for Longview residents. For more information about recycling opportunities, contact the Sanitation Department at 903-237-1250.
Keep Longview Beautiful is asking residents to “Love Longview” by picking up litter in their neighborhoods, parks, and streets as part of Longview Green and Clean on either Friday, Nov. 9 or Saturday, Nov. 10. Volunteers can work on the project or location of their choice. Areas needing attention may be assigned to participating groups. Volunteers may secure limited quantities of clean up equipment, in advance of the event, between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Nov. 5 – 8, at the Keep Longview Beautiful office located at City of Longview Community Services, 410 S High Street, Longview, TX 75601.
