Longview’s many arts and cultural organizations are partnering together in hopes of creating a designated Cultural Arts District and are seeking input from the community on the topic. ARTS!Longview and the Cultural Arts District Task Force invite interested individuals to attend a special town meeting from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, at the Maude Cobb Convention Center, 100 Grand Blvd. The purpose of the meeting will be to obtain a wide variety of feedback to help guide the development of a Cultural Arts District application being prepared for submission to the Texas Commission on the Arts.
According to Nancy Murray, chair of the Cultural Arts District Task Force, “Longview has such a wonderful collection of cultural arts organizations and artists within our community. It is our hope that by collaborating together we will spark a vibrant and successful creative community that works to inspire and promote the love of the arts, our history, and culture in Longview. As we work on this Cultural Arts District designation, input from the community is vital to help provide direction and also show support for our excellent arts and cultural opportunities.”
The meeting is open to the general public and will include several opportunities to provide input. For those who can’t attend the meeting in person, an online survey will be available at ArtsLongview.org and LongviewTexas.gov from October 31 – November 15.
