[ARCHIVED] Mayor and City Council Honor Partners in Prevention Mentors

The public is invited to attend a reception honoring mentors of Partners in Prevention Mentoring Programs, Forever Friends and Co-Pilots on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, 300 W. Cotton St., Longview, Texas. To commemorate the work of over 200 mentors across East Texas through Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program, Longview Mayor Dr. Andy Mack and the Longview City Council will be honoring mentors. January marks the 17th Annual National Mentoring Month; a time to raise awareness of the positive impact mentoring has in the lives of young people as well as a time to celebrate the mentoring relationships essential to creating sustainable futures for our youth.

During the ceremony, Levi Mead, a former mentee, will share his experiences as a mentee. Mr. Mead currently works at Citizens National Bank in Tyler, Texas and was previously mentored by Steve Fink in PIP's Mentoring Program.

In 2018, Partners in Prevention’s Forever Friends and Co-Pilots Mentoring Programs provided 239 youth with caring, trained adult mentors. Mentors can choose to mentor a young person in Longview, Pine Tree, Spring Hill, Hallsville or Kilgore Independent School Districts.  The mission of Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program is to inspire and encourage young men and women for Leadership through positive relationships.  The Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program has provided professionally supported mentoring for over 23 years.
