[ARCHIVED] Scam Alerts – individuals posing as city employees

LPD News

In two cases the citizens did not believe them and denied them access to their homes.  However, in the third case the victim allowed the men to come in and “inspect” her home. One of the suspects distracted the victim allowing the second suspect to take valuables from the victim. The suspects are described as two white males driving a gray or tan Chevrolet truck. If you have any information on the possible identity of either suspect please call Longview Police at 903-237-1199.

The City of Longview and Longview Police Department encourage residents to be cautious of anyone asking for access to your home. There are rare occasions in which a City of Longview employee may interact with a resident at their property. However, most interactions are scheduled in advance by appointment or made at the request of the resident. City employees will not ask to come inside your home unless an inspection has been pre-scheduled or they are invited.

If someone comes to your home claiming to be a City employee, check to see if they are in a marked City of Longview vehicle and request to see identification. If you are unsure, please contact the City of Longview at 903-237-1000 to confirm their identity and purpose.
