(Longview, TX) (Longview, TX) The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Unity and Diversity Committee (UDC) will host “Longview Listens: Accidentally Naive” at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Allen Family Student Center at LeTourneau University. Longview Listens seeks to promote unity and diversity in Longview by creating a safe environment through which we include, inform, and celebrate all individuals through community dialogue. The first Longview Listens event hosted by UDC and will focus on open and civil dialogue in small group conversations centered around being “Accidentally Naïve” about race and culture. The event will open with storytelling by Vance Freeman, which will be followed by a breakout into several discussion groups lead by trained facilitators.
Jasmine Stoker, liaison to the UDC, said, “This event is a fresh take on the successful World Café that UDC has previously hosted. It encompasses creative storytelling and much-needed dialogue between community members. The committee has worked hard ensure that attendees leave having built relationships and gain new perspectives to incorporate into their everyday lives.” The event is free, but an RSVP is requested by calling 903-237-1019 or signing up through Facebook @longviewunityanddiversity.
