(Longview, TX) – If you were affected by the May 8 storm as a renter or landowner, you may be eligible for a low-interest loan. The loans offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration are available for damage done to businesses and residential properties and other financial difficulties connected to the severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding on May 7 and 8.
“I am proud of the recovery that has already occurred within our community, and I believe these additional resources from the SBA will help many residents and businesses moving forward,” Mayor Andy Mack said. “If you still have any work to be done to repair your property, I also encourage you to protect yourself by working only with registered contractors who receive appropriate permits through Development Services.”
The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Gregg, Harris, Harrison, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Waller and Wharton counties.
Agents will be on hand in Longview at the Longview Fire Department Training Center at 411 American Legion Blvd. beginning Tuesday, July 16 through Thursday, July 25 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. each day Monday through Friday.

The deadline to apply for property damage is Sept. 9, 2019. The deadline to apply for economic injury is April 10, 2020.
