On Sept. 3, 2019 at approximately 11:45 p.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 614 Gilmer Road, Apartment 173 for a structure fire.  It was reported that there was a person trapped inside the burning apartment. Crews arrived on scene and were able to make entry and find the occupant inside the bathroom.  She was unconscious and unresponsive.  She was transported to Christus Good Sheppard Medical Center where she was stabilized before being sent to Parkland Hospital in Dallas by helicopter.  Crews also found a small dog that had succumbed to the smoke conditions.  The fire was extinguished with no other victims found and no firefighter injuries.  The cause of the fire was unattended cooking.

The Longview Fire Department responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ladder trucks, 2 medic units, and 4 support vehicles for a total of 23 members on scene.
