Public Safety Communications Hiring 9-1-1 Dispatcher

Applications are now being accepted by the Public Safety Communications Division for the position of 9-1-1 Dispatcher.

Public Safety Communications (PSC) is the 9-­1-­1 emergency answering point for the City of Longview. The division provides dispatch and support services for the Longview Police and Fire Departments, as well as Emergency Medical Services.

Applicants must be able to work any shift as assigned; have a high school diploma or GED; and successfully pass skills testing, background checks, a polygraph/psychological exam and drug/alcohol screening.

Starting pay for the position is $16.40, which increases to $18.11 after training with bilingual incentive pay and shift differential pay.  Dispatchers will receive 100 percent paid on the job training and be a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System with a 2:1 match. Other benefits include vacation and sick pay; Health, Vision, Dental, and Life insurance; and access to the Employee Health Clinic.

Career progression opportunities are Telecommunications Operator I (entry level), Senior Telecommunications Operator, Communications Supervisor, and Communications Administration.
