The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association has selected the City of Longview as a Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Program for Planning Excellence recipient, which is awarded to cities that have demonstrated planning excellence. Longview previously received the recognition in 2017 and 2018.
The association evaluated cities on the level of training of planning commissioners and professional staff, professional qualifications of the planning staff, breadth and currency of master plan components and completion of other planning related projects.
The goals of the Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Program for Planning Excellence include:
"We are honored to be named a recipient of this recognition for the third straight year," City Planner Angela Choy said. "The city has worked hard to develop a roadmap for future development that will cause our community to grow and thrive, and this recognition confirms that we are on the right track."
Longview was one of 39 cities recognized in 2019.
