[ARCHIVED] Officer Involved Shooting on August 25

(Longview, TX) On August 25, 2015 at 3:42 a.m., Longview Police Officers were on the scene of a suspicious activity call at 559 Mobberly Avenue. Officers encountered several males in the parking lot of the store. When officers approached them a 17 year-old suspect produced what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband. One Longview police officer fired his duty weapon several times, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The Texas Rangers were contacted and are investigating this officer involved shooting. At this time it is still very early in the investigation. Longview Police will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. today at City Hall in Council Chambers, 300 W. Cotton St.
