The Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive will take place at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex on Monday, November 23, 2015. Food donations will be accepted on Monday, November 23, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It will not be necessary for people donating food to leave their cars, as volunteers from support groups, city officials, and media personalities will be outside to collect donated food items. Several months before the event, applications are taken from families in need who live within the city limits of Longview. Application deadline is October 31, 2015. The pre-approved families from the city of Longview who are selected to receive a food box will be notified by letter ahead of time and will be instructed to come to Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at a time designated in their letter, to collect their food box. Donations consist of canned goods, bread, staples, frozen meats, and monetary donations. Each box will contain: 2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of corn, 2 cans of green peas, 2 cans of misc. peas or beans, 2 cans of soup, 1 bag of pasta, 1 canned meat, 1 dessert, 2 boxes of Jello mix, 1 can of cranberry sauce, 1 loaf of bread, 1 canned fruit, 1 misc. vegetables, and 1 misc. powdered drink mix.
