The Unity Honors Luncheon will take place at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex on Thursday, February 11, 2016, 11:30 a.m - 1:00 p.m. This annual event honors individuals who stand against prejudice and mistrust and have made significant contributions to the Longview community. Dorothy Walker and Reverend J.D. Palmer are the recipients of the 2016 Unity Award, given by the Longview Partners in Prevention's Unity and Diversity Committee. In addition, the Junior League of Longview will receive a new service honor award that gives special recognition to schools, businesses or organizations that have done outstanding work within the past year, while promoting diversity, unity and creating a cooperative spirit in encouraging and mobilizing change for the greater good of the community. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased in advance at one of the following locations in Longview: Partners in Prevention, 140 E. Tyler St., Suite 400; Broughton Recreation Center, 801 Martin Luther King Blvd.; Cafe` Barron’s, 405 W. Loop 281; Longview ISD Administration Office, 1301 E. Young St.; and Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton St. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold or available on the day of the luncheon.
