The Longview Main Street Program and One Hundred Acres of Heritage, Inc. recently nominated four downtown businesses/organizations for 2020 Texas Downtown Association President’s Awards. The Texas Downtown Association President’s Awards are awarded each year by the Texas Downtown Association to highlight and celebrate the achievement of businesses, developers, individuals and organizations in their efforts to promote and develop their respective Downtown Districts.
This year, Longview Main Street nominated Alton Plaza/The Petroleum Building, Silver Grizzly Espresso, Heartisans Marketplace and VeraBank for awards.
“While 2020 has not been a typical year for a lot of things, we have had a lot of great things happening in Downtown Longview. Much of our success has to do with the people and businesses who have invested time, energy and financial resources into our Downtown community. We have so many great businesses and organizations that call Downtown Longview home – it makes it very easy for us to submit high quality nominations for this prestigious state recognition,” said Melida Heien, Main Street Coordinator. “We are very proud of everything and everyone that works hard day each day to make our Downtown a wonderful place.”
The Longview Main Street program has been a finalist for TDA President’s Awards in 2017 (Downtown Live), 2018 (JT Smith/Pelaia Plaza Sculpture Garden) and 2019 (Oil Horse Brewing Company and R.Lacy). Local programs will be notified in September as to whether they are an award finalist, and awards will be presented this fall at a virtual event.
