[ARCHIVED] Change Batteries in Smoke Alarms For Daylight Savings Time

Smoke Alarm with batteries

Don’t forget this Saturday October 31, 2015, when you change your clock back, remember to also change your batteries in your smoke alarms.

Here are some tips on smoke alarms:

Smoke alarms should be installed inside every bedroom outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement.

For larger homes, more smoke alarms may be needed for additional protection.

For the best protection, a interconnected smoke alarm system would be preferred.

For the best protection, use a dual sensor smoke alarm.

Smoke alarms should be installed away from the kitchen to prevent false alarms. They should be at least 10 feet away from a cooking appliance.

Make sure to replace all smoke alarms after 10 years of use.

Also, if you are in need of a Smoke Alarm in your home, you may qualify for a free smoke alarm from Longview Fire Department. For more information on this program, please call 903.237.1119.
