Anthony Boone Named Longview Police Chief

Acting Chief Anthony Boone

On Thursday, April 28, the Longview City Council unanimously confirmed Anthony Boone as Chief of the Longview Police Department.

“I’m honored to have spent my career in service to my family, friends, and neighbors, and humbled by the faith placed in me by the city manager and City Council,” Boone said. “The men and women of the Longview Police Department are second to none, and I am blessed to be able to help and guide them in keeping our community safe.”

Boone had served as Acting Police Chief since February 2022 and was recommended for the post by City Manager Rolin McPhee.

“The past two and a half months have confirmed what a life-long career of service had already demonstrated.  Chief Boone is a proven leader with the character, wisdom, and temperament needed to serve the citizens of Longview and lead the Longview Police Department,” McPhee said.

Boone has served the Longview Police Department since 2001.  During his tenure he has served in divisions across the department including Bicycle Patrol, Field Training, Honor Guard, SWAT, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations and Support Services.

He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler and a Master of Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, a professional course for U.S. and international law enforcement managers, as well as the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas’ Leadership Command College.
