Arts!Longview NewsFlash

Finalists for the 2022 President’s Awards Program were recently announced in Austin. This year, Arts!Longview was selected as one of three finalists for this program under the “Best Downtown Partner” category. This organization has done a lot to help Downtown Longview grow over the past three years raising awareness for the museums, bringing in grants and funding beautification projects.

For over 30 years the awards program, sponsored by Texas Downtown, has recognized outstanding projects, places, and people of downtowns across the state.

Texas Downtown was established in 1985 and its mission is to provide members with resources, advocacy, education, and connections to develop vibrant districts.  The organization is an independent, statewide nonprofit that represents cities and towns of all sizes, economic development corporations, chambers of commerce, local associations, small businesses, and individuals.

"It is an absolute honor to be a finalist as a Community Partner in the Texas Downtown Association President’s Awards. Our passion is to spark a love of the arts, history, and culture in our community. Through artistic improvements and programming, like ArtWalk, we’re proud to have played a role in brightening up downtown while also encouraging tourism and business development. We have a talented community and wonderful things happening in Downtown Longview. We look forward to more partnerships with Longview Main Street as we continue to work collaboratively to enhance our community," Arts!Longview Executive Director Christina Cavazos said.

One hundred and twenty nine entries were submitted in twelve different categories from communities across the state. Design and achievement categories were judged by separate panels.

Winners will be announced on Nov. 2 at the President’s Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2022 Texas Downtown Conference scheduled for Nov. 1-4 in San Marcos.
