[ARCHIVED] Longview Peace Officer Arrested

UPDATE: The arraignment processes have been completed, we can confirm that Seth Vanover, a former Longview Police Lieutenant, was arrested and charged with attempted online solicitation of a minor for sexual activity.


On October 11, 2022, the FBI contacted the Longview Police Department regarding a criminal investigation involving one of the Department’s sworn peace officer.  The FBI arrested the employee on October 12, 2022, at the police department with assistance from this agency.  After being made aware of the investigation, the employee submitted his resignation. The Longview Police Department is not involved in the criminal case but is cooperating with the special agents conducting the investigation.

The Department expects the highest standards for all employees and will not tolerate criminal behavior.  The Department will investigate any allegations of employee misconduct to the fullest extent and uphold the Department’s standard of “Providing Professional Policing” to the Longview community.

Any requests for information related to the criminal case or charges being filed should be directed to the FBI Dallas field office.
