On January 19, 2016 at 10:10 a.m., Longview Police were dispatched to the 1100 Block of Maple Street for a complaint of several dead dogs in a neighbor’s yard. When officers arrived they found four dead dogs in the back yard of the residence. Longview Police contacted Animal Control Officers for assistance with this case. Police also located several dog houses with chains and an empty bag of dog food that had mold growing inside the bag. Police also learned that there may be more dogs at a location in Gregg County. Animal Control Officers, with assistance from the Gregg County Health Officer, went to the location and located more dead dogs in various states of decay. The suspect, Torian Dewayne Rodgers 26, of Longview, was arrested on an unrelated outstanding motion to revoke probation warrant and was transported to the Gregg County Jail without incident. The case remains under investigation at this time.
