[ARCHIVED] Homeowner Thwarts House Burglary

On February 1, 2016 at 10:56 p.m., Longview Police were dispatched to a home in the 800 Block of Spring Street for an unknown problem. When officers arrived the victim told police that a Hispanic male, identified as 28 year-old Kevin Mitchell Gonzales of Longview, had attempted to enter the garage without permission. The victim and Gonzales began to fight and Gonzales pulled out a handgun. During the struggle Gonzales fired one round from the 45 caliber pistol. The victim was able to get the gun away from Gonzales and hold him down until police arrived. When police arrived they arrested Gonzales. During the arrest officers located 18 Lorazepam pills in a clear plastic bag in the suspect’s pants pocket. Gonzales was charged with Criminal Trespass with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG-3. He was transported to the Gregg County Jail without incident.

*The homeowner was not injured during this incident.
