[ARCHIVED] Longview Police Respond to Two Homicides Over Weekend

On December 17, 2022, at approximately 9:23 a.m., Longview Police Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Texas Street in reference to an assault that had just occurred.  When officers arrived, they located a 52-year-old man deceased inside the residence.  The man was identified as Juan Hernandez-Rodriguez of Longview.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Patrol officers quickly identified and detained a juvenile suspect.  The suspect was transported and booked into the Gregg County Juvenile Detention Center.

On December 18, 2022, at approximately 11:48 p.m., Longview Police Officers responded to a shooting at an apartment at the Churchhill of Longview Apartments located at 1501 East Whaley.  Officers located an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds.  The male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  The victim was identified as 19-year-old Codie Polk of Longview.

These incidents are not related to one another.  These are active investigations at this time.
