The Longview Public Library will hold the second of four scheduled Summer Reading Club programs at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex. The first one took place on June 22nd and featured Mr. Blue Shoes. The next program is scheduled for Wednesday, June 29th, and will feature a program on Chimp Haven. Chimp Haven is a nonprofit organization for the establishment of a safe haven for chimpanzees no longer needed in laboratories, in the entertainment industry, or as pets. Their presentation will focus on their facility, how they came to rescue the chimpanzees, and to educate families about the care of the chimpanzees. The next two programs are scheduled for July 6, and July 13. Each program will be run twice their featured day, 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Performers from all over the state will come and meet with kids for the FREE Summer Reading Program to entice kids to read.
