[ARCHIVED] End-of-Year Summer 16 Block Party

Summer Block Party

The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Youth Action Committee will host the first ever End-Of-Year Summer ‘16 Block Party, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday, June 11 in Downtown Longview, Texas.

The purpose of this event is to provide a safe, fun-filled summer kick-off for our local high school students. The event will allow them to enjoy their peers and celebrate school-year achievements. Activities will include a music from DJ Juice from 102.7/106.9 The Blaze, dance challenge, a dunking booth, SMASH Mario Wii game (projected onto big screen), and an adult-size bounce house. Mobile Food Vendors (Divine Catering and Snow Angels Snow Cones) will be on site with food for purchase. The Youth Action will make this a recurring event that our youth can look forward to year-after-year.

Our goal is to maximize our time with this captive audience by educating and raising awareness of the effects of drugs and alcohol abuse among youth. We will also have a balloon release in memory Jessup Sanders, a Longview High School student / baseball player who lost his life to the street drug known as K2.

The event will be held downtown on Fredonia Street between Methvin and Tyler. All local high schools are invited.
