[ARCHIVED] Understanding the Struggle of Poverty Workshop - January 10

Partners in Prevention will host "Understanding the Struggle of Poverty" a poverty workshop in the Activity Rooms at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The workshop will be broken into two sessions. The first session, Bridges out of Poverty, will examine the hidden rules of class, generational versus situation poverty, the idea that poverty is more than financial instability and useful and effective communication tools, along with creating mental models of living with chronic economic hardship. The second session will take place after a 90-minute lunch and will engage guests in a poverty simulation. The poverty simulation is a powerful, interactive tool that, through role-playing, allows participants to step into the shoes of a person living in poverty. Participants will spend time trying to solve problems to acquire or maintain shelter, food and other basic necessities. Tickets for the days event are $25 per person and are available online at www.bit.ly/2iEDZbX, www.eventbrite.com, or by calling 903-237-1019.
