[ARCHIVED] Longview Receives Recognition for National Night Out Participation

NNO

The City of Longview has been recognized by the National Association of Town Watch for its outstanding participation in National Night Out 2016.  Longview ranked 14th out of 162 cities of comparable size across the United States that participated in National Night Out this past year.  Longview has received recognition in previous years, most recently ranking 15th in 2015 and 19th in 2014.

Longview saw an increased participation of residents hosting block parties in 2016 – 127 parties were registered – an increase from 108 in 2015.  Neighborhood groups, Crime Watch groups, businesses, and churches took the lead to organize parties within their neighborhoods.

Partners in Prevention, Longview Police Department, other city departments, and the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office coordinate the annual event.  National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that  promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safe, more caring place to live,” according to National Town Watch Association, the national organizers.

The date for this year’s National Night Out in Longview will be October 3, 2017.
