Police Establish Safe Exchange Zone

LPD NEws

In an effort to provide a safe place for people to meet to buy and sell items advertised through online marketplaces, the Longview Police Department has established a safe exchange zone just steps away from the police department. Located immediately in front of the police department at 300 W. Cotton St., the safe exchange zone is well-lit and has 24 hour video surveillance.  Police encourage the use of the safe exchange zone for child custody exchanges as well.

Residents are encouraged to not meet strangers at their homes for exchanges, but instead meet in a well-lit public location preferably with video surveillance. If you don't utilize the Longview Police Department's safe exchange zone, consider meeting at a major retail store parking lot or other very visible public space.
