Animal Care and Adoption Center

  1. World Spay and Neuter Day

    February 28, 2017, All Day

Cats and dogs are homeless everywhere. In every community, in every state, in every country. There are so many homeless pets; animal protection organizations and shelters simply don’t have the space or resources to provide care or find homes for them all. An estimated 2.4 million healthy and treatable cats and dogs are put down in U.S. shelters each year. That’s one every 13 seconds. These are sweet pets who would have made great companions. Internationally, millions of stray animals roam the streets. Too often, governments deal with this overpopulation through cruel means, such as poisoning, electrocution and shooting. Spay/neuter is an effective and humane way to save animals’ lives. Spaying (for females) and neutering (for males) are common surgeries veterinarians perform to stop animals from having accidental, surplus litters.

  1. Babygarten

    February 28, 2017, 10:30 AM - 11:59 PM @ Longview Public Library

Children ages 0-2. Infant story time! We welcome parents to come with their babies and listen to songs, nursery rhymes, and stories geared toward their age. The children may not yet be of speaking or walking age, but physical interaction is extremely important in the early stages of child development. The infant story time also allows for parents to start off their child’s habits right by coming to the Library each week. Due to young attention spans, this story time will last about 15 minutes. Tuesdays at 10:30 AM.
