The Gregg County Historical Museum will present the "Portraits of our Past" exhibit in conjunction with the City of Longview's Sesquicentennial Celebration.
February 4, 2020, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Longview Public Library
To help celebrate Longview’s 150 Year Sesquicentennial, the Library will be recording patron memories to digitize and put onto our Longview 150 Stories Podcast! These memories will be available online throughout the Sesquicentennial for everyone to enjoy. Head to LongviewTexas.gov/150Stories to find out the exact details. If you don’t have the equipment to record your memories, call (903) 237-1350 to speak with Leah or Josh and schedule an appointment to come in and have us help record them for you. Dates to record are February 4, 5, 12, 14, 19, 20, and 27. There will be 30 minute time slots between the hours of 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
February 4, 2020, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Suggested for children ages 0-2. We welcome parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers to come sing songs, and popular nursery rhymes, together! Simple stories geared towards the children's age group will be read aloud. Physical interaction is extremely important in the early stages of child development, and this story time not only encourages adult/child interaction, but also builds the healthy habit of reading aloud to your child. Due to the short attention spans of this young age group, this story time will last about 20 minutes, with time for caregivers to socialize together afterwards while children play with toys that are provided. Story time begins promptly every Tuesday at 10:30 AM!
February 4, 2020, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
FREE tutoring for ages 5-13 every Tuesday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM! If your child is struggling with their homework or understanding what they are doing in class, just bring your child's homework, along with any detailed instructions from their teacher(s), and our qualified librarians and volunteers will be glad to help! If you have any questions about the program, please call the Children's Desk at (903) 237-1345.
If you would like to volunteer to help with Tutoring Tuesdays, please call (903) 237-1027.
